State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley has condemned the Abbott Government’s plan to slash $277 million from Victorian hospitals.

Ms Graley said that Monash Health, the service provider at Casey Hospital was set to lose a staggering $34 million.

“Our health system has gone backwards since the Coalition took office and now Mr Abbott is determined to make things worse,”

“The funding he intends to rip out of our health system could clear the elective surgery waiting list or employ 3,000 nurses or open 500 new hospital beds,”

“We have more than 2000 people, many in significant pain and discomfort stuck on the ever growing waiting list for elective surgery at Casey Hospital,”

“Yet they have been abandoned, first by the Napthine Government and now by the slash and burn Abbott Government.”

Ms Graley said that Casey Hospital was in crisis, struggling to meet the needs of our growing local community and in desperate need of further resources.

“The emergency department at Casey Hospital is overflowing, our loved ones are waiting longer than ever to be treated and ambulances are stuck outside waiting for beds to become available,”

“There is no doubt Mr Napthine has plunged our health system into crisis and Casey Hospital is now bearing the brunt of his ineptitude and carelessness,”

“Our hospitals, our sick and elderly, our community deserves better.”
