The Baillieu Government has again refused to fund urgently needed safety improvements for the intersection of Pound and Shrives Roads in Hampton Park, State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said today.

“The intersection of Pound and Shrives roads desperately needs a safety upgrade,” Ms Graley said

“I organised a petition on behalf of the many local residents who had contacted my office with their concerns about this dangerous intersection,”

“Hundreds signed my petition before it was tabled in Parliament in early September,”

“Unfortunately the Minister for Roads has once again showed his contempt for local residents and has waited almost six weeks before responding,”

Ms Graley said that the Baillieu Government’s shocking disregard for the safety of local motorists must stop.

“The intersection has been the site of many accidents and ever worsening congestion, yet the Minister for Roads continues to ignore repeated requests from the Casey community for an upgrade,”

“I ask the Minister, how much longer must local motorists be put at risk as this Government continues to dither and make excuses?”

Do the right thing Mr Mulder, fund the upgrade and ensure the safety of the many local motorists who regularly use this intersection.”
