Baillieu Government road inaction holds up shopping centre extension

The Baillieu Government’s refusal to commit to the duplication of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road is delaying the extension of Casey Central Shopping Centre, State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said today.

At a meeting of Casey Central traders earlier in the year, the shopping centre owners advised tenants that the planned extension would not proceed until Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road is duplicated.

Ms Graley said that the Baillieu Government had dealt the Casey community a double blow.

“Not only is the Baillieu Government not duplicating Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, they are also delaying the extension to Casey Central Shopping Centre,” she said

“Narre Warren South residents want their road duplicated and they want the local shopping centre extended,”

“It is clear the Baillieu Government is not interested in the outer suburbs, despite Casey being one of the fastest growing communities in Melbourne.”

Ms Graley said that local residents need to make their voices heard before the release of the State Budget in four weeks and encouraged residents to contact her office on 9704 6055.
