Baillieu’s hospital failure
I refer to your article ‘Report card improves’ (10 May), which refers to a report on the performance of our hospitals in the December quarter.
The reason for the Baillieu Government’s delay in releasing this report is because it shows a failure to improve elective surgery waiting lists at Casey Hospital, despite the Liberal Party promising to improve elective surgery waiting lists at the last election.
In fact, the Baillieu Government has not delivered the extra 100 beds it promised to deliver in its first year in office.
At the last state election, Labor promised $30 million for a new surgical operating theatre and 30 new beds at Casey Hospital. The Baillieu Government has failed to make a similar commitment, despite the Health Minister admitting that Casey Hospital is near capacity.
I encourage anybody interested in more beds for Casey Hospital to contact my office on 9704 6055 and sign the petition.
