The Napthine Government has again failed to commit to provide funding for the construction of Casey Central East Primary School, State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said today.

In reply to a letter from Ms Graley requesting that funding for construction be included in the recent State Budget, the Minister for Education refused to reassure local families that the school would actually be built.

Ms Graley said that this was yet another example of the Napthine Government’s failure to invest in education in Casey.

“Casey Central East Primary School is needed today, not tomorrow and certainly not when this lazy government finally decides to stop their dithering and deliver,”

“Local schools are now overflowing and concerned local parents continue to contact me asking why this school has yet to be built,”

“The Minister has had countless opportunities to answer this question and provide reassurance to local families, yet on each occasion he has failed to do so.”

Ms Graley said that the Minister’s failure to ensure that the construction of Casey Central East Primary School was included in this year’s State Budget was a reflection of his
commitment to local families.

“I have asked the Minister to come down and visit local schools, meet the principals, staff and students to discuss the issues their schools are facing,”

“Yet on every occasion he refuses, he refuses to see what his neglect is doing to local
schools and the families they support,”

“It is time the Minister took off the dunce’s hat, put on his ministerial one and got on with
the job of providing quality education for our young people.”
