Change rooms at the Sweeney Reserve Pavilion are set to be upgraded and will become more female friendly thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Andrews Labor Government.

As part of the Community Sport Infrastructure Fund the City of Casey will receive a Female Friendly Facilities grant to upgrade and improve the existing changes rooms.

The current state of the change rooms means that they cannot be utilised by both male and female players at the same time.

The project will see the clubs rooms reconfigured to create four female friendly change rooms, amenities improved and the addition of a first aid room.

The new facilities will see an additional 50 young women running out to play football and two new female cricket teams formed.

“All too often female change rooms are rundown or simply non-existent with women forced to use male change rooms, public toilets or even their cars,”

“It’s just unacceptable and I`m delighted that the Andrews Labor Government is getting on with ensuring our female sporting stars have access to equal facilities,”

“They deserve to have the same opportunities to play and compete in the sports they love.”
