State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley today encouraged residents of Casey to get behind her campaign to upgrade Pound and Shrives Road intersection in Hampton Park.

“The intersection of Pound and Shrives roads desperately needs a safety upgrade,” Ms Graley said

“The intersection has been the site of many accidents, yet the Minister for Roads in the Baillieu Government continues to ignore repeated requests from the Casey community for an upgrade.”

Speaking in Parliament today, Ms Graley said that the Baillieu Government was favouring Victorians from more affluent areas in the allocation of road and transport funding.

“How does the level crossing in New Street Brighton, which is number 223 on the level crossing priority list, receive funding while this notoriously congested and dangerous intersection continues to be ignored?”

“This is a government that just doesn’t care about the people of Casey,”

“I call on the Minister and this government to stop their dithering, stop making excuses and fix the problem.”

Ms Graley said she has organised a petition to put pressure on the Baillieu Government to fund a safety upgrade of the intersection.

Local residents are encouraged to sign the petition on Saturday 25 August 2012 between 10am and 12pm at Hampton Park Shopping Centre, near Woolworths.
