Local families are set to miss out on 15 hours of kinder as the Liberal State and Federal Governments slash funding.

Instead, from 2015 no further funding will be provided for Labor’s National Partnership Agreement leaving families with only 10 hours per week.

State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley today joined with Dianne Wilson, Manager of the Hallam Community Learning Centre to call on the Liberal State and Federal Governments to reverse this appalling decision.

“This is an outrageous and completely unjustified cut that will make life even more difficult for local families already struggling to make ends meets,”

“Our kids will miss out, kindergartens will be forced to cuts jobs and local parents will have no choice but to either cut back on their working hours or find additional child care

“I urge everyone set to be impacted by these cruel and callous cuts to sign our petition and tell Denis Napthine and Tony Abbott that they can’t cut kinder.”

Mrs Wilson said that many local families who currently send their children to three year old kindergarten at Hallam Community and Learning Centre were set to miss out.

“Kindergarten provides children with much needed early education that is vital to a child’s future development,”

“The structured activities and programs on offer not only provide enormous benefits to our kids but to parents who may need a few hours break each week,”

“Many parents will now struggle to find their child adequate kindergarten and childcare, whilst trying to balance working and caring for their family.”
