MONASH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL – LABOR CARES
At a packed ‘Labor Cares’ forum held at the Clayton community centre, more than 100 people turned out to discuss the future of the Monash Children’s Hospital.
Labor Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews facilitated the discussion, along with State Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley and Shadow Health Minister Gavin Jennings, taking questions and points of view from the community for over an hour and a half.
Mr Andrews said the community made clear their concerns about the lack of progress on the state’s second biggest paediatric health service.
“It’s no secret that the Monash Children’s Hospital has outgrown its current facilities, and many locals wanted to know what was happening to deal with this,” Mr Andrews said.
“Melbourne’s south east is growing and people want to know what is being done to ensure Monash Children’s will be able to cope with this growth.
“Our kids deserve the best quality facilities and local parents deserve nothing less than what the Premier promised.
“These facilities should be up and running by the end of 2014 – nothing more and nothing less than what the Premier promised.
“And we have heard the message from the community: If it is good enough to promise, it is good enough to deliver.”
