NO NEW BEDS FOR CASEY HOSPITAL
The Napthine Government’s State Budget provides no new beds for Casey Hospital, State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said today.
Ms Graley said that the Napthine Government had failed to stop the neglect of Casey Hospital and start reversing the trend of deteriorating services that have been a hallmark of the past two and half years.
“Dr Napthine has failed to provide a single cent of funding for additional beds at Casey Hospital,”
“The Napthine Government has instead slashed a further $209 million from our health system bringing the total amount of cuts by Mr Baillieu and Dr Napthine to $826 million,”
“This could have provided surgery for an additional 165,000 patients and has led to a 10 percent increase in the elective surgery waiting list at Casey Hospital since the election, with more than 2000 people now waiting,”
“Ms Graley said that the Minister for Health had previously admitted that Casey Hospital was at capacity yet once again had failed to do anything about it,”
“As Casey Hospital struggles to meet the demands of our growing community it is local families that will suffer,”
“It is clear that Dr Napthine just doesn’t care, nor can he be trusted to provide for the health of the local community.”
