NO NEW ROAD FUNDING FOR CASEY

The Napthine Government’s State Budget has failed to provide funding for urgently needed road upgrades in Casey, State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said today.

Ms Graley said that Dr Napthine’s very first budget had continued the neglect of local roads by the failed Baillieu Government.

“Napthine’s budget fails to provide funding for an urgently needed upgrade of Thompsons Road,”

“A key arterial road last upgraded by Labor, Thompsons Road continues to come under significant pressure from our growing community,”

“As the Napthine Government refuses tom act, local residents will continue to face worsening congestion and lengthy delays on this road.”

Ms Graley said that the notoriously congested and often dangerous intersection of Pound and Shrives Roads in Hampton Park had once again been ignored.

“Dr Napthine has failed to listen to the concerns of local residents and has refused to provide funding for urgently needed safety improvements,”

“Just a few weeks ago we had yet another avoidable accident at this intersection and until Dr Napthine stops the excuses and takes action, local motorists will continue to be put at risk.”
