The long awaited duplication of Thompsons Road, between East Link and Clyde Road in Cranbourne is set to become a reality under an Andrews Labor Government.

Leader of the Opposition Daniel Andrews joined with State Labor Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley to announce the $175 million commitment on the weekend.

Labor’s commitment will ensure the two remaining sections between Frankston-Dandenong Road to South Gippsland Highway, and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to Clyde Road is duplicated.

Ms Graley said the announcement comes as a great relief to local residents who are sick and tired of finding themselves stuck in traffic on this notoriously congested road.

“Thompsons Road is a key arterial route for the local community and this commitment will put an end to the bumper to bumper traffic that is costing local families and businesses both time and money,”

“We will see reduced traffic, shorter travel times and a much safer drive to work as Labor gets on with the job of duplicating Thompsons Road, removing our dangerous level crossings and fixing local roads abandoned by Denis Napthine.”

Ms Graley thanked the local community for all their hard work and commitment to the campaign to upgrade Thompsons Road.

“Hundreds of local residents jumped aboard our campaign to see this section of Thompsons Roads finally upgraded,”

“Unfortunately the Napthine Government dismissed their concerns and refused to act, Labor on the other hand has listened and will act to fix our roads.”
