The Andrews Labor Government is helping to ease congestion in Melbourne’s growing outer suburbs, with both Thompsons Road and Hallam Road part of a $10 million package of planning works to upgrade outer suburban arterial roads.

Judith Graley, Member for Narre Warren South, today announced funding to deliver a business case for Hallam Road & Thompsons Road for a future upgrade as part of the Victorian Budget 2016/17.

Planning work could include construction estimates, preliminary designs, impact studies, geotechnical investigations, environmental and cultural heritage studies, and community consultation.

As part of these planning works, the Labor Government will also investigate more efficient ways to deliver suburban road upgrades by partnering with the private sector on multiple projects.

This package will assist with planning the upgrade and duplication of a number of congested arterial roads around Melbourne.

This project is another step towards achieving the Labor Government’s guaranteed $1 billion in funding to repair and upgrade outer suburban roads.
