WATCH OUR FOR TRAVELLING CON MEN THIS SUMMER
Each and every year, local residents are being conned out of thousands of dollars by travelling con men.
Travelling con men are dodgy tradesmen knocking on the doors of homes, farms and small businesses, offering to do maintenance work with cheap ‘today only’ deals.
They often target seniors, vulnerable consumers and residents who speak little or no English and appear more frequently in warmer weather.
Quotes attributable to State Member for Narre Warren South Judith Couacaud Graley
“We know that summer is the peak season for travelling con men who will often ask for upfront payments and either take the money and run or leave the job unfinished,”
“If it just doesn’t feel right I urge local residents to say no and report these scam artists by phoning the national travelling con men hotline on 1300 133 408 or to local police.”
