$400 Million Monash Freeway Fix
I was delighted to be joined by the Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan to announce that we are investing $400 million to upgrade the Monash Freeway.
The Monash Freeway will be widened from four to five lanes each way between the EastLink interchange and South Gippsland Highway, and from two to three lanes each way through to Clyde Road in Berwick.
As part of the upgrade we will also deliver the longest stretch of managed motorway in Australia by using smart technology to help prevent traffic banking up, which causes congestion and stop-start driving.
It is a fantastic result for local residents who have been regularly contacting me about the need for an upgrade.
I have raised their concerns directly with the Minister for Roads and the Treasurer and I`m just so pleased that the Andrews Labor Government is delivering for our local community.
We’re committed to ensuring that local residents spend less time stuck in traffic and more time with their families.
