Local students rise to the challenge

Each and every year our extraordinary local schools step up and read more books than ever before as part of the Premiers’ Reading Challenge.

I was delighted to be joined by the former Premier John Brumby to congratulate students at both Kilberry Valley Primary School and Hillsmeade Primary School on their outstanding efforts in this year’s challenge.

Kilberry Valley Primary School had 624 students complete the challenge and an extraordinary 85 students who read more than 100 books, including every single student in Ms Patricia Thomas’ Grade 5 class. What an achievement!

Hillsmeade Primary School had 52 students complete the challenge and 7 students who read more than 50 books.

Well done to every student who took part in this year’s Premiers’ Reading Challenge.
