Narre Warren South electorate: student leadership

Each year I present my Community Spirit and Leadership award to one grade 4 student from each primary school in the Narre Warren South electorate. Teachers select as award winners those who are regarded as having the potential to play a future leadership role in our community and who display a range of qualities, including being considerate of others, civic-mindedness and initiative. Debbie Cusack, assistant principal of Berwick Lodge Primary School, nominated Kaitlyn Stones and said that Kaitlyn has been a committed member of the J Rock team and is always thinking of ways to improve the school environment. The teachers at St Kevin’s Primary School could not decide on just one student to receive my award. There were three very deserving students. Well done to Anna Andronis, Sarah Fahey and Gianmarco Hernandez.

The teachers at Berwick Fields Primary School nominated Aidan Radley, describing him as a friendly and enthusiastic member of the class who gets along well with others while demonstrating excellent leadership skills through his thoughtfulness when working with others. Luke McKigney from Coral Park Primary School was nominated by his teacher, Solange Nancarrow, who said that Luke has a wide range of friends who look to him for support and assistance both in the classroom and outside. Their fellow award winners included: Eden Brehaut and Jarryd Barker from Hillsmeade Primary School; Alexandra Jones from Brentwood Park Primary School; Liam Dallafiore from Courtenay Gardens Primary School; and Shayni Derbyshire and Anna Judge from Berwick Chase Primary School. They are all fabulous students and future leaders. I hope one of our young stars will one day be the member for Narre Warren South. Congratulations and well done.
